More than 146 thousand tons of soybeans were moved in the Eastern Export Corridor of the Port of Paranaguá between April 20th and 21st, which represents an operational record in 24 hours (among all products). The number also represents an increase of 5% compared to the previous mark, registered between August 29th and 30th, 2019 (138.988,98 tons).
“Three berths handled more than 146 thousand tons of grains and soybean meal destined for China and Spain. The excellent movement in the operation of three ships allowed another historic record for Portos do Paraná", said the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia. "These numbers are the result of investments in port management in the ports of Paraná”. Three vessels received the product: Nikolas D, Guo Yuan 32 and Guo Yuan 82.
He cites as factors responsible for the record the maintenance of equipment and logistical strategies to make better use of the operation's berths and teams, in addition to the global demand for the commodity. “The total movement also brought important results for the companies involved. Eight terminals shipped more than a thousand tons/hour per piece of equipment. It is an impressive number achieved due to annual maintenance and port logistics intelligence”, emphasized Garcia.
This operational planning and engineering work earned the ports of Paraná four port management awards from the federal government. Currently, the ports of Paraná are recognized for the best administration in Brazil. The ports of Paranaguá and Antonina achieved the highest score in the Port Authority Management Index (IGAP) in the main category among Brazilian public ports.
In addition to the impressive numbers in daily movement, the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina have recorded eight consecutive records of monthly productivity, since August 2023. The most recent was in March this year, with 5.968.934 tons handled, 11% more than in 2023 (5.357.799 tons).
In addition to the eight months of records in a row, the general numbers reveal significant growth in 2024. In the first quarter there was an increase of 16% compared to last year. More than 16 million tons were moved this year alone. In exports, the highlights are soybean and sugar commodities, while in imports, fertilizer is the busiest product.
