Soybean harvest advances in Rio Grande do Sul
Precipitation in variable volumes reduced the pace of soybean harvesting, which reaches 66% of the cultivated area in the 2023-24 harvest
The Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Mato Grosso (Famato), represented by the Administrative and Financial Director, Robson Marques, signed the protocol of intentions aimed at reinforcing measures to combat forest fires in the state. The event took place this Thursday, in the auditorium of the Associação Mato Grosso dos Municípios (AMM), in Cuiabá, bringing together authorities and representatives of institutions involved in environmental preservation and public safety.
The protocol establishes a mutual collaboration between Famato, the State Court of Auditors (TCE), the Environment (Sema) and Public Security (Sesp) secretariats, the Fire Department and the Mato Grosso Association of Municipalities (AMM), with the aim of integrate preparedness, prevention and response activities to wildfires across the state.
One of the measures highlighted in the document is the creation of Forest Fire Monitoring Rooms in city halls, which will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the situation of vulnerable areas. In addition, it is planned to hire municipal firefighters for a period of four months, aiming to strengthen the firefighting teams. The training of these professionals will be the responsibility of the Fire Department, ensuring that they are prepared to act effectively in the face of emergencies.
“This initiative represents a joint effort by the institutions involved to mitigate the impacts of forest fires, which year after year devastate the state of Mato Grosso, causing damage to the environment, agricultural production in our state and putting the lives of people and animals", emphasized Robson Marques.
The Administrative and Financial Director also reinforced Famato's unwavering commitment to the firefighting and prevention campaign, taking a firm stance against this criminal practice. "Annually, we guide rural producers to adopt fire prevention measures, seeking to preserve our natural resources and guarantee everyone's safety", he concluded.
