In a ceremony held in Brasília this week, the board of directors of the Brazilian Association of Soy Producers (Aprosoja Brasil) was sworn in for the 2024/2027 period, with rural producer Maurício Buffon as president for the next three years. Buffon was one of the founders of Aprosoja TO, being president of the state entity for two terms.

Successor to former president Antonio Galvan, the president-elect highlighted that his administration will seek good dialogue with various public and private actors to seek solutions to the main challenges faced by producers.

“Aprosoja Brasil will be present at all negotiation tables, always firmly defending farmers with gains for the production sector. The president is a person who takes the entity’s strategy to the states at the same time as he listens to demands”, highlighted Buffon during his inauguration.

The new board has experienced representatives with services provided to Aprosoja Brasil and Aprosojas in the main soybean producing states. The president of Aprosoja Mato Grosso, Lucas Costa Beber, took office as the 1st immediate vice-president of the national association. The vice-president of Aprosoja Mato Grosso, Luiz Pedro Bier, will also be part of the board, as vice-president of Aprosoja Brasil representing Mato Grosso, while the administrative director of Aprosoja-MT, Diego Francisco Bertuol, is part of the Fiscal Council of entity, ensuring the representation of MT producers at national level.

Lucas Costa Beber thanked former president Antonio Galvan, especially in his fight for a fairer grain classification for producers, in addition to promoting research carried out in partnership with the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), bringing more data to support the demand for a fairer classification.

He also highlighted that the new president of the entity is prepared to defend the interests of producers. “He is a person who has good dialogue, who seeks to open doors and, above all, defends the flags of soy producers. So, the producer can rest assured that Maurício will do an excellent job”, he stated.

The second largest soybean producer, Rio Grande do Sul has two representatives on the elected board. They are the president of Aprosoja RS, Ireneu Orth, who took on the role of interim senator last month, taking the place of senator Luis Carlos Heinze (PP-RS), and the former president of the entity Décio Teixeira.

The president of Aprosoja Goiás, Joel Ragagnin, continues as one of the vice-presidents of the national entity. In addition to him, the 2nd administrative director and former president of Aprosoja Brasil, Bartolomeu Braz Pereira, represent the state.

The president of Aprosoja Tocantins, Caroline Schneider, the first producer to preside over an Aprosoja at the state level, also assumed the role of vice-president of Aprosoja Brasil. Also from Tocantins, producer Dari Fronza takes over as one of the tax advisors. The new board also includes producers from Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Piauí, Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, Pará and Roraima.
