UPL launches UPtrap, a real-time agricultural pest monitoring platform using digital traps, during Digital Agro. The company will have a special stand at the event, which takes place from July 12th to 14th, at Expo Barigui, in Curitiba (PR).

"UPtrap is an innovative tool from UPL to assist farmers in monitoring and controlling pests, optimizing the use of insecticides in the field. This initiative is in line with our 'OpenAg' purpose, which makes us a company open to developing solutions for our partners. In this sense, we are the first company to offer this service within a multifunctional platform for agribusiness, and there are already plans to expand this platform with other functionalities", says Carlos Melo, leader of the digital area and special projects at UPL Brasil .

Through the platform, UPL installs smart traps at key points in the field that attract insects with pheromones – sexual hormones that encourage animal recognition and interaction. The attracted pests are captured by the trap, which immediately sends alerts to the producer, helping to carry out or adjust the application of inputs at the ideal time.

Application technology

Another highlight of UPL in Digital Agro is the UPspray application, which helps rural producers to optimize the application of agricultural pesticides to combat various pests and diseases that affect the most diverse crops across the country. The tool is free and available on Android and IOS systems, in Goole Play and APP Store.

"The tool guides the adjustment and calibration of sprayers, allowing safe applications for the environment, the operator and the plantation, in addition to avoiding the waste of pesticides, saving time in preparing the mixture and applications", explains Matheus Siqueira, consultant of market development at UPL Brasil.
