Rio Grande do Sul has 44% of the harvested rice area

7,4% are in the reproductive stage, and 47% are in the maturation phase

The harvest is progressing slowly in Rio Grande do Sul. Of the 900.203 hectares cultivated with irrigated rice, 401.723 hectares (44,62%) have been harvested so far. 7,4% are in the reproductive stage, and 47% are in the maturation phase.

Fronteira Oeste remains the most advanced region, with 58%. The furthest behind is Central, with 31,62%. Last year, in this same period, approximately 81% of the area was already harvested.

The data were tabulated by the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Division, based on information from teams from the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Centers (Nates) of the Rio Grandense do Arroz Institute (Irga), linked to the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), together with producers in Rio Grande do Sul.  

Harvest progress by region

  • Western Border: 153.239 hectares harvested (58%) of 263.903 hectares sown;
  • Outer Coastal Plain: 52.082 ha harvested (52%) of 100.003 ha sown;
  • Internal Coastal Plain: 68.774 ha harvested (51,74%) of 132.918 ha sown;
  • South Zone: 61.044 ha harvested (39,55%) of 154.318 ha sown;
  • Campaign: 47.672 ha harvested (36,4%) of 130.954 ha sown;
  • Central: 37.351 ha harvested (31,62%) of 118.107 ha sown.
