In agribusiness, innovation and sustainability are increasingly essential. Data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations show that, by 2050, the world population will exceed 9,7 billion people, with an additional need for 60% of global food production. With Brazil being one of the five largest agricultural producers in the world, companies seek to increase field efficiency while preserving the environment.

This is the case of Agrocete, a Brazilian multinational international reference in the area of adjuvants, physiological, biological and nutrition. Through its Research and Development (R&D) sector, the company promotes constant work that takes into account the urgent need for innovations in a world that demands sustainability. In this sense, one of its fronts is the development of multifunctional products and new biological technologies.

This class of products is gaining more and more prominence, as it offers a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to crop management, providing new levels of productivity by balancing the three aspects of the soil - physical, chemical and biological.

According to a Andrea de Figueiredo Giroldo (in the photo), director of Marketing and Technical Market Development at Agrocete, in the last 5 years the company has carried out more than 200 external works aimed at fertilizers, adjuvants and inoculants. During the period, partnerships were signed with more than 70 research institutions, including Embrapa, Iowa State University, Kansas State University, Unesp, University of Illinois and University of Nebraska. The company maintains contracts on several fronts, including hub areas, consultancy and new product development.

The director of Agrocete explains that this is a multifaceted process, which even involves a New Products Committee and several teams and sectors, with an investment of 9% of revenue in the Regulatory, R&D and Technical Market Development sectors. Thus, the Brazilian multinational seeks development actions aligned with strategic planning.

“When we talk about new products, it is important to highlight that bench tests are carried out involving new formulations, aging, shelf life, chemical, physical and biological compatibility, dose curve and application time, agronomic efficacy test in greenhouse conditions, experimental field internal and research and scaling institutions. Furthermore, tests are conducted in commercial areas before launches for validation,” he states.

And the result is already reflected in the company's main indicators: of 2023 sales, new products and bio-inputs represented 30%. “A percentage that confirms our commitment to presenting innovative and sustainable products to rural producers, which actually contribute to the quantity and quality of harvests”, concludes Andrea.

Now, Agrocete's future projects promise significant advances. This year, there will be the launch of new biological products, as well as a program with launches already scheduled until 2027. New physiological products and adjuvants will also be presented to the market in the next 3 years. “We are building not just products, but solutions that will shape the future of agribusiness”, he concludes.
