Adama Ltd announced the registration of its biological control product Actavan in Peru. This is the company's first "global" biofungicide, developed in collaboration with New Zealand's Waikaitu Ltd.

According to information from Adama, Actavan "uses plant extracts to effectively prevent the occurrence of fruit rot in crops such as grapes, berries and certain vegetables, while improving their quality."

As a biological product, the Adama statement adds, "Actavan is compatible with organic farming and integrated pest management (IPM) practices."

“Farmers around the world are looking for an effective biofungicide that allows them to incorporate sustainable agricultural practices and still produce high-quality fruits and berries,” said Walter Costa, vice president of marketing and product strategy at Adama.

According to Adama's press release, Actavan is a "biofungicide that stimulates the plant's immune system at a systemic level." Additionally, unlike many other fungicides, "there is no pre-harvest interval for Actavan, which gives farmers more freedom to plan crop treatment schedules."

“We are proud to work together with Adama to provide this vital product that helps farmers maintain the balance of nature,” said Alex Pressman, CEO and founder of Waikaitu Ltd.

Despite being questioned, Adama's headquarters has not yet informed what the new product's active ingredient is.

Adama said it expects to register the product in other countries soon. An indication of the next steps are the registration applications for the Actavan brand, which can be seen in the image below. Note that there is a request in Brazil.
