More than 20 representatives from citrus companies and leaders from Solo Sagrado Agronegócios, specialized in plant nutrition, met at the headquarters of the Spray Adjuvants Program, in Jundiaí, to learn about the functionality of the initiative. The program unites the private sector with the Engineering and Automation Center (CEA), of the Agronomic Institute (IAC), an entity of the São Paulo Department of Agriculture and Supply.

According to the researcher and coordinator of the Spraying Adjuvants Program, Hamilton Ramos, the main objective is to develop advanced research to promote the improvement of the quality of agricultural adjuvants produced in the country, in addition to certifying, through its exclusive seal, the functionality of these products. This is the case of Solo Sagrado Agronegócios, which is certified by the initiative.

Agricultural adjuvants

Agricultural adjuvants, explains the researcher, are products added to the agrochemical mixture, prior to their application to plantations, “with a view to improving the effectiveness of treatments and reducing farmer losses in the management of pests, diseases and invasive plants”.

Among the topics discussed at the meeting, participants endorsed the importance of adequate selection of the adjuvant, the functionality seal for adjuvants, as well as the need for investment in continuous research in the area. The agenda also included a visit to the advanced laboratory of the Spraying Adjuvants Program.

Hamilton Ramos also highlighted that from the month of July 2022 until today, the number of companies that joined the Spraying Adjuvants Program increased from 20 to 40, in the search for the official seal. “We celebrate the significant increase in companies that joined the project. More than one hundred adjuvant products have since been subjected to CEA-IAC analysis”, he concludes.
