The advent of agriculture in human history was largely responsible for the development of civilizations. It is the oldest economic activity and, without a doubt, one of the most important. In recent decades, Brazil has made a technological leap that has allowed it to multiply its participation in world agricultural production. Therefore, on this March 20th, World Agriculture Day, it is necessary to highlight the role of rural men and women in this epic that has led us to leadership in several agribusiness production chains, especially the meat, soybean, corn, cotton and forest products. Our everyday agriculture is largely responsible for feeding nearly a billion people around the planet.

When we talk about Brazilian agriculture, all the numbers are superlative, to the point of leaving other important segments far behind in terms of performance. Recently, the automobile industry announced that it will invest R$41 billion in the country by 2032. Without a doubt, a highly relevant initiative, which will bring a lot of currency to our economy. However, just look at Brazilian agribusiness investments in 2023 to understand the dimension of agriculture. According to data from the Central Bank, last year alone, Brazilian rural producers invested R$98,2 billion, more than double the amount promised by automakers over the next eight years.

Pay attention to this other comparative section. Expodireto Cotrijal, one of the largest agricultural fairs in the world, held in Não-Me-Toque (RS), generated R$7,9 billion in investments in just five days of the event. This represents more than 50% of the average annual investment in the automotive industry. That's why we need to celebrate agriculture every day, a sector that employs 28 million workers. Pardon the pun about our valuable automakers, agriculture is the main engine of the Brazilian economy. Therefore, it is essential that the federal government recognizes and values the continued importance of this vital sector for the country's development and prosperity. And be ready to help and support this segment at any time.
