Xanthomonas axonopodis PV. glycines (Xag) is a bacterium that survives in crop residues left on the soil surface between growing seasons for up to 210 days. In seeds, the survival of the pathogen can exceed two years, which is considered one of the main forms of Xag transmission. For producers who follow the cultivation of soybeans with wheat, studies indicate that the rhizosphere of wheat plants can be considered a favorable environment for the survival of the bacteria.
