The Northrup-King Seed Company was founded in Minneapolis, United States, in 1896.
In 1968, under the name Northrup, King and Co., it offered its first shares to the public. The company grew quickly after going public. But, it suffered significant losses in 1975. The following year, it was purchased by a Swiss pharmaceutical company called Sandoz, Ltd, who renamed it Northrup King.
On December 20, 1996, the merger of Sandoz and Ciba-Geigy led to the creation of Novartis. And Northrup King became a subsidiary of Novartis. It became known as NK.
In 2000, Novartis Agribusiness and Zeneca Agrícola merged, forming Syngenta.
Around 2009, 2010, the NK brand ceased to be used in Brazil. I would return in January 2020.
