BNDES announces another R$3 billion for credit under the Safra Plan

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) made available this Wednesday, January 10, more than R$3 billion for credit operations within the scope of the 2023-2024 Harvest Plan programs. With the measure, the total resources still available in the different agricultural programs of the Federal Government to be transferred by the bank is R$8,5 billion, with a deadline for use until June 2024. 

“BNDES is one of the main supporters of the agricultural sector. Therefore, together with President Lula's government, we are making an effort to make extra resources available to rural producers, cooperatives and family farmers. In the 2023-2024 Harvest Plan, BNDES has already approved R$ 18,2 billion and responded to requests from more than 99 thousand customers through indirect operations, carried out by the network of accredited financial agents”, explains the president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante . 

“Rural producers need to be alert, as the resources in this line, which are transferred to accredited institutions, are close to being completely used. In any case, in addition to the Safra Plan, BNDES offers its own solutions to guarantee the supply of credit to the agricultural sector throughout the year, such as BNDES Crédito Rural. In the current harvest, the product already totals R$4,2 billion in approved operations”, says Mercadante. 

The resources from the Safra Plan can be used to finance and invest in various purposes, including expanding production, purchasing machinery and equipment, storage and innovation.

Crop Plan

The Federal Government presented the largest Harvest Plan in history for 2023/24, with R$364,2 billion in credit, an increase of 26,8% compared to the last harvest and the highest volume in the historical series. The initiative focuses on the sustainability of low-carbon agriculture and livestock and medium-sized rural producers.
