Healthier food rich in nutrients, better quality, greater productivity in the field, reduced losses, energy and water savings, traceability and logistics. Solutions to these and other challenges in horticulture – a segment that includes the production of vegetables, fruits, flowers, plants and forestry – will be presented by the 500 exhibiting companies, from Brazil and abroad, participating in the 29th Hortitec – Technical Horticulture Exhibition, Protected Cultivation and Intensive Crops. The event takes place from June 19th to 21st in Holambra (SP) and expects to receive 32 thousand visitors and generate R$450 million.

The Brazilian horticultural sector has the responsibility of taking care of what reaches the population's table, seeking to offer sufficient quality and quantity to supply families in the four corners of the country. Furthermore, it is the agricultural segment that generates the most jobs and, specifically in floriculture, it is the one that employs the most women, confirming the importance of the sector for the Brazilian economy.

focus on technology

Technology marks all stages of the fruit and vegetable production chain. The 2024 edition of Hortitec stands out for the growth in innovation applied to seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, pesticides and biodefensive products, in addition to tools, greenhouses and machinery. “This year we saw the profile of exhibiting companies linked to biotechnology and renewable energy issues grow. Furthermore, there is a concern among all links involved in the production chain to avoid waste and make healthy food available”, comments Renato Opitz, general director of Hortitec.

Considered the largest horticultural event in Latin America, it brings together producers, sector professionals and institutional representatives from the entire production chain. The visiting public, made up of producers dedicated to the production of flowers, fruits, vegetables and forestry and other professionals in the sector, is invited by the exhibiting companies, thus forming a virtuous cycle of information exchange, new customers and good business.

Structure organized into sectors facilitates visitation

With national and foreign exhibitors, the 29th Hortitec will be organized into five large areas that allow visitors to easily find what they are looking for. At the reception of the event, everyone receives a complete catalog that presents the exhibitors in a didactic way in alphabetical order, points out the pavilion in which the company will be present, in addition to offering information about the business line, products and means of contact, also allowing carrying out future business.

Entry takes place through the brown pavilion which, together with the green and blue pavilions, presents innovations in the immense diversity of the horticulture production chain, such as seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, pesticides, biotechnology, agricultural accessories, packaging, etc. The red pavilion is the one that brings together research organizations, such as Embrapa, and sectoral entities (Ibrahort, Abrafrutas, Ibraflor, ABCSEM, among others), in addition to Senar.

In the area outside the exhibition pavilion, there is the black sector, where manufacturers of greenhouses, tractors, air conditioning equipment and various machinery are located. This space also includes Sebrae, with training programs and business rounds.
