Project evaluates levels of carbon accumulation in productive areas of the Cerrado of Bahia
The initiative is in the soil collection and sampling phase, and already includes 15 rural properties
This month, the Capal Cooperativa Agroindustrial unit in Curiúva (PR) completes eight years of activities since the incorporation of the former cooperative that operated in the municipality. Currently, there are 29 employees who form the staff and around 320 associated rural producers who are served by the team. The main agricultural activities practiced in the region are the planting of soybeans, corn, wheat, oats and barley.
In addition to Curiúva, the local unit serves three other municipalities located in the surrounding area: Figueira, Sapopema and Ventania. “With Capal’s entry into the region, production averages improved due to the efficiency of quality technical assistance in the field. The fair prices charged brought market balance”, says the manager of the Curiúva unit, Vitor Junior Lopes. “Livestock farmers have also obtained better results due to the use of quality feed and technical monitoring”, he adds.
To receive the soybean harvest, which is in the final phase, several expansion works were completed in the yard, which ensured greater agility with the reduction of queues and contributed to the security of receiving grains from members. In total, R$13 million were invested in improving the physical space.
Four lung silos with a storage capacity of 600 tons, a tipper for twin trains and a rapid flow set that includes elevators and connecting walkways for shipping and the new silos were delivered in time for this harvest.
“The fast flow installation with a tipper set, elevators and conveyor belts greatly speeded up the delivery of grains made by producers”, observes the unit manager.
Other works carried out at the Curiúva branch include the expansion of the warehouse for storing pesticides and the cafeteria and changing rooms, ensuring greater comfort for employees.
