ZF Aftermarket announces the use of QR Codes on the packaging of its spare parts for the Brazilian market. Initially, the new solution was introduced in all SACHS clutch packaging and the objective is, by the end of 2023, to extend it to all packaging of the ZF Aftermarket, LEMFÖRDER, TRW, WABCO and ZF brands.
According to Tales Miranda, Senior Product Development Manager at ZF Aftermarket, with ZF's newest initiative for the SACHS brand, all links in the aftermarket chain will be able to obtain several benefits, just by directing the cell phone camera to the QR Code printed on packaging. Among them is access to various information about the characteristics of each part, in addition to the possibility of checking its authenticity, which brings this new functionality the benefit of helping to combat the use of pirated parts in the aftermarket. “The function of checking the authenticity of the piece is unprecedented in this market, it certifies the authenticity of the product purchased and brings even more security to the seller, applicator and the end user”, says Tales.
The list of advantages also includes basic assembly instructions in videos. These are short films created by the Amigo Bom de Peça qualification program, especially to indicate the correct step-by-step installation of parts.
Furthermore, in the same QR Code link, ZF Aftermarket has inserted the online warranty certificate for the purchased part. With the virtual guarantee file, the use of paper is eliminated, as well as its access is facilitated. The solution meets both the needs of mechanics and the end consumer.
Direct access to the catalog
Using the same QR Code, it will also be possible to have direct access to a catalog with online license plate search. With this functionality, the entire replacement chain will benefit. From the repairman, who will be sure that the parts he is using are compatible with the vehicle being maintained, the retailer and distributor, who will no longer have refunds due to the sale of parts that do not match the vehicles, to the end consumer, who will have the safety of applying the part suitable for your vehicle. The license plate search functionality allows the repairer or auto parts seller to obtain basic vehicle data, such as brand, year of manufacture and model. “With this, it is possible to access the complete list of parts used in the vehicle undergoing maintenance”, he explains.
To complete the package of solutions and increasingly meet the needs of the entire replacement chain, ZF Aftermarket also included a satisfaction survey in the QR Code. “Our goal is to be increasingly closer to our customers and this will be another channel for us to understand their needs”, concludes Tales.
According to the executive, the idea was conceived by the ZF Aftermarket do Brasil team with the support of the headquarters in Germany. The Brazilian unit was the company's first in the world to adopt the solution and offer the benefits to the replacement chain. After full implementation, packaging with QR Code should also be adopted in other countries where ZF Aftermarket operates.
“This is another initiative focused 100% on improving customer service. By offering all the information they need in a single channel, ZF makes it easier and provides more security so that the consumer has their vehicle in perfect working order and the mechanic's work is streamlined”, he concludes.
