The Zarc Plantio Certo mobile application has a new version. From now on, the user will also have access to registered cultivars for ten crops: peanuts, rice, barley, sunflower, castor beans, corn, soybeans, sorghum, wheat and beans.

Zarc Right Planting was launched by the Agricultural Policy Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) in June, with the aim of making it more practical and easier to consult information from the Agricultural Climate Risk Zoning (Zarc). Previously, the tables were only disclosed in ordinances published in the Official Gazette or on the Ministry's website.

The inclusion of the list of cultivars was one of the main suggestions made by users since the launch of the tool. “For an application to be widely used, it is essential to be aware of user demands and update it periodically to incorporate new functionalities”, highlights the general head of Embrapa Informática Agropecuária, Silvia Massruhá.

In addition to consulting the planting windows in which there is less chance of crop failure due to adverse weather events for more than 40 crops, in all Brazilian municipalities, the application now offers a list of cultivars registered in the National Cultivar Registry (RNC) , considered suitable for each location.

The list is organized based on the institutions that hold the cultivars and offers information on the main agronomic characteristics registered in the RNC, such as potential productivity, maturation time and flowering. The new feature allows producers to have qualified information on two important variables when planning planting: climate risk and the most suitable genetic material.

“It is worth remembering that complying with Zarc's recommendations is mandatory for the farmer to access resources from the Agricultural Activity Guarantee Program (Proagro), Proagro Mais, aimed at family farming, and the Rural Insurance Premium Subsidy Program (PSR ), and many financial institutions are granting rural credit based on zoning”, says the director of the Risk Management Department, Pedro Loyola.

The application was developed by Embrapa Informática Agropecuária, responsible for coordinating the Research Network that operates in the execution of Zarc. The new version is now available for free in the cell phone app store.
