Yara and Stara announce the distribution of free licenses for one year of use of Atfarm, Yara's Precision Agriculture tool, to Stara customers who produce corn and wheat. With the technology, producers will be able to monitor their crops and apply nitrogen fertilizers at a variable rate, increasing their production and, consequently, impacting their profitability.
“Rural producers have been feeling the impact of the crisis and the stress in the food chain, and the democratization of Precision Agriculture technologies can help them increase their productivity, positively impacting their profitability. At Yara, our goal is to be our customers' preferred partner, and this involves offering high-value-added solutions and services, such as Atfarm”, said João Benetti, Commercial Director at Yara Brasil.
Stara is a pioneer in Brazil in the development and commercialization of technologies for Precision Agriculture. “Our first product to deliver technological solutions was the Hércules line of distributors, pioneers in Brazil in carrying out variable rate distribution, generating fertilizer savings and increased productivity. Together with Yara, we have been working for 12 years and now we are partners in this new project”, says Cristiano Buss, Director of Research and Development at Stara.
“The Nutrir o Brasil project will increase the efficiency of calibration curves in prescribing and optimizing the use of Nitrogen. Together we take this important step forward by bringing this possibility to many producers with Stara distributors. Being partners in a project like this is very rewarding”, says Márcio Fülber, Commercial Director at Stara.
The companies aim to reach up to 5.000 rural producers, who will have access to Atfarm's functionalities and will be able to create maps of nitrogen application at a variable rate, rationalizing the use of fertilizers and optimizing the efficiency of Nitrogen, a nutrient that is highly related to boosting crop productivity. The average productivity gain results are in the order of 10%, in research carried out using calibration curves, which represents increasing productivity by 5 bags per hectare in wheat and 10 bags per hectare in corn, without increasing the producer's cost , as it maintains the total amount of Nitrogen applied.
“Yara is committed to promoting sector transformation through digitalization. Therefore, we are increasingly investing in open innovation and innovative and resource-efficient digital tools so that farmers can produce more, optimizing the resources they already have and thus cultivate a nature-positive food future with smart, sustainable choices. low carbon”, comments Chantal Ghannam, Director of Digital Solutions at Yara.
“We are taking another big step through the partnership with Yara and showing that the variable rate really is an excellent tool for enhancing productivity. With this, we will bring more options to Stara's partner producers, who will produce more and save on inputs, resulting in the satisfaction of our customers”, concludes Stara's CEO, Átila Stapelbroek Trennepohl.
