Experts and guests from xarvio Digital Farming Solutions, BASF's global digital agriculture brand, presented the news prepared for the 2021/2022 harvest at an event held last Thursday (01/06). The xarvio Vision - Vision Beyond Reach also brought a rich debate about how digitalization impacts the day-to-day life of modern agriculture and the behavior of farmers in the face of new technologies.

Among the brand's launches is the expansion of technology to more crops besides soybeans: the agronomic intelligence algorithm used in Digital Mapping of Weeds is now available for post-emergence in cotton crops, even this harvest. In September, it will be sugar cane's turn to be processed. Finally, in January 2022, the platform should be ready to help farmers with the second corn harvest.

Another new feature is that farmers will have access to xarvio FIELD MANAGER tools shared in commercial packages - BASIC, PRO and PREMIUM - to meet their specific needs, from planting to harvesting.

xarvio is a brand that develops innovative digital solutions to help farmers make the most of the potential of their fields. Therefore, it is possible to increase efficiency, save time, optimize inputs for crop protection and contribute to increasingly sustainable agriculture.

"Digital solutions help in making the right decision, at the most appropriate time for each crop. These are services that facilitate and optimize the farmer's work, being able to increase profitability per plot and further support sustainable practices", comments Almir Araújo , director of Digital, New Business Models and Commercial Excellence for Latin America at BASF Agro. "The result of the first harvest of commercial operation of xarvio FIELD MANAGER consolidates the Digital Weed Mapping solution as one of the main allies for more efficient and sustainable management of crops. In the mapped areas, input optimization was on average 62% and water savings were 36 thousand liters per thousand hectares", highlights Araújo.

Reference cotton farming

With the extension of the agronomic intelligence of Digital Weed Mapping, cotton producers will be able to use the tool in the post-emergence of the crop. "Cotton requires a different degree of specificity from the cotton farmer. Being able to control weeds in the post-emergence period is a real need, mainly due to cultural sensitivity. We received this demand from our customers and worked to arrive at the ideal model", explains Lucas Marcolin, Commercial Manager for Digital Products at BASF Agro.

Currently, the main weeds in cotton cultivation are horseweed, viola string, bittergrass, pigweed and milkweed. "Some species can directly interfere with the quality of cotton fiber, as is the case of picão preto, capim carrapicho and ram's burr. If the invaders are not controlled, the farmer will suffer huge losses, as the seeds of these plants have structures that adhere to the fiber, reducing the quality of the product and, consequently, its market value", ponders the BASF manager.

Accessible solutions for everyone

To expand the use of xarvio FIELD MANAGER tools and add value to farmers' businesses, BASF brings as another great novelty for this harvest the BASIC, PRO and PREMIUM package options. "Farmers are looking for new tools that provide better resource management in their crops, resulting in increasingly sustainable production. This is the value offered by xarvio FIELD MANAGER. We deliver a service that reduces production costs and generates efficiency. Our proximity to the customer, monitoring the entire process, provides a result of greater profitability for the farmer", evaluates Marcolin.

There are three modalities that the farmer can contract by accessing the xarvio FIELD MANAGER platform. In the BASIC, PRO and PREMIUM packages, they have access to viewing maps by field, documentation and harvest reports, in addition to integrating with the SCOUTING app. Another big difference are the biomass maps and guidance on the ideal time to apply to crops in the PRO package. In the PREMIUM modality, available for the States of Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Bahia, Piauí, Tocantins, Maranhão, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, in addition to all the solutions, the customer also has drone image processing and weed detection with full technical support.

Strong partnership

In the same week, the global approval of the Joint Venture between BASF Digital Farming and Bosch for the commercialization of intelligent agricultural solutions in Brazil and around the world was also announced. The operation is considered another important step towards digitalization in agriculture, as the combination of Bosch and xarvio technologies will bring intelligent spraying and planting solutions resulting in resource optimization, sustainability and greater profitability for the producer.
