In the first week of 2023, a worsening in the conditions of corn and soybean crops in Paraná was observed, according to the Agricultural Situation Bulletin, released by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Supply. One of the reasons was the intense heat during the second half of December, especially in the western region of the state, impacting soybeans more.

The bulletin also provides information about the crop planting and harvesting report. "The planting and harvesting report showed that we have 80% of the 5,7 million hectares planted with soybeans in good condition, while 16% are in average condition and 4% of this area are in poor condition. As for corn, 79% of the area is in poor condition. in good condition, 18% in average condition and 3% in poor condition. It is estimated that 383 thousand hectares were planted in this harvest", said Deral technician, Edmar Wardensk Gervásio, in a report.

"The expectation is that in the next few days we will have the beginning of the harvest of both soybeans and first-crop corn in the State of Paraná. While the summer harvest is close to harvest, the second-crop corn already has the planting window open and should advance as soybeans are harvested", pointed out Edmar Wardensk Gervásio, in the bulletin.
