On March 19, the Postgraduate Program in Agronomy (Plant Production) welcomes seven researchers from the University of Georgia (UGA), in the United States, all specialists in peanut research. The experts participate in the Peanut Research Workshop: Brazil – United States, which will also have the participation of experts from the Faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences (FCAV) at Unesp, on the Jaboticabal campus.

The visit by North American researchers is the result of the internationalization actions of the Vegetal Production Program, foreseen in its strategic planning for the four-year period 2017-2020, aiming to expand the internationalization of research into peanut cultivation, since the Jaboticabal region is Brazil's largest producer of this oilseed.

The expansion of the partnership with the University of Georgia (UGA) is due to the fact that the state of Georgia is the largest producer of peanuts in the United States, and UGA has an outstanding role in advancing research related to this crop.

UGA researchers, in addition to participating in the Workshop, will visit other important links in the peanut production chain, such as cooperatives, industries and producing farms in the Jaboticabal region.

Present will be North American specialists Cristiane Pilon (Physiology – Research), Glendon Harris (Soil fertility – Extension), Mark Abney (Entomology – Extension), Rajagopalbabu (Babu) Srinivasan (Entomology – Research), Scott Monfort (Agronomics – Extension) , Scott Tubbs (Agronomics – Research) and Timothy Brenneman (Pathology – Research)

FCAV will be represented by professors Rouverson Pereira da Silva (Agricultural Mechanization and Digital Agriculture), Pedro Luís da Costa Aguiar Alves (Weed Management) and Odair Aparecido Fernandes (Entomology) and by post-doctoral student Adão Felipe dos Santos, who will speak about their respective specialties.
