Paraná's exports in the first four months of 2024 broke a record for the period, totaling US$7,47 billion. In the best result in the historical series, the volume of goods sent abroad from January to April exceeded by 1,6% the revenues recorded in the same period in 2023, when the value moved was US$7,35 billion.

With the result, Paraná continues to be the export leader in the South Region. Second place, Rio Grande do Sul, reached US$ 5,79 billion transferred abroad. On the national scene, the State occupies fifth place, behind São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso.

April ended as the best month for Paraná exports so far in the year, with US$ 1,97 billion sent outside the country. Revenue of US$ 7,47 billion for the four months ends with the sum of US$ 1,91 billion reached in January, US$1,72 billion in February and US$1,87 billion in March. The balance was collected and tabulated by the Paraná Institute of Economic and Social Development (Ipardes) based on data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC).

Soybeans, chicken meat and soybean meal were the three most sold goods by Paraná to other countries in the first four months. Soybeans lead sales with US$1,8 billion moved in the first four months of 2024. The product had a positive variation of 47,8% compared to the same period in 2023.

Subsequently, the sale of chicken meat generated US$ 1,1 billion, occupying second place. In the third, soybean meal generated US$516,4 million from January to April.

Exports of raw sugar, oils and fuels draw attention due to the increase in sales compared to the same period last year. Raw sugar, which ranked fourth among the most sold products abroad, totaled US$367,8 million, an increase of 120,5% compared to the first four months of 2023.

In the case of oils and fuels, the volume moved was US$138,6 million, with a positive variation of 43,1% in relation to the first four months of 2023.

According to the CEO of Ipardes, Jorge Callado, exports from Paraná have overcome the drop in prices of some very important commodities, such as soybeans, expanding their insertion in specific markets and promoting other products. “The case of raw sugar exports to Indonesia and Iran is emblematic of the creation of alternatives, so much so that businesses involving this commodity ensured the continuity of Paraná's records in the field of foreign trade”, he states.

China remains the main destination for Paraná exports. Sales volume to the Asian giant in the first four months almost reached the US$2 billion mark, reaching US$1,95 billion. The United States comes in second place as the main destination for Paraná exports in the first four months. US$477 million were sent to the country, growth of 7,9% compared to the first four months of last year.
