The search for sustainability and traceability in agribusiness, which is already urgent in Brazil and in international markets that purchase national agricultural products, has placed organic products in the daily lives of rural producers. With this increase in demand, Koppert do Brasil predicts a 40% growth in its revenue this year, going from R$150 million in 2019 to R$210 million.

Furthermore, the company will invest R$25 million over the next five years, in Brazil and Argentina, in research and development of new products, in the maintenance and modernization of factories and in new acquisitions - the Dutch multinational has already made five purchases of companies in Brazil and Argentina, in the last seven years. “The investments will be dedicated mainly to the areas of macrobiological production, new research and development structure for parasitoid insects, acquisition of new equipment, expansion of the fungus-based products factory and modernization of the inoculants plant in Argentina, among others ”, explains the commercial director of Koppert do Brasil, Gustavo Herrmann.

For this harvest, the company is launching the first biofungicide for industrial soybean seed treatment (TSI) and intends to consolidate the use of its main bionematicicide in planting areas. The development of the two products, which use the same species of fungus as an active ingredient, Trichoderma harzianum, consumed more than three years in research and development and R$2 million in investments. “For Trianum, developed for TSI, we expect to sell between R$10 million and R$15 million in the 2020/21 season”, assesses Herrmann.

According to data from Croplife Brasil, an entity that represents input companies, the organic market grew 70% in Brazil in the 2019/20 harvest and should see an increase of 25% to 30% in the current season.
