With agents focused on the field and the dollar, wheat liquidity is low in BR

The pace of negotiations involving wheat remains slow in the domestic market. According to Cepea employees, producers are focused on advancing the cultivation of the new cereal crop, while demanders pay attention to the continued devaluation of the dollar against the Real, which reduces parity and favors imports – between May 31st and May 7th. June, the dollar fell 3,5%, closing at R$5,037 this Monday, the 7th.

According to data from Secex, in May, 591,03 thousand tons of wheat were imported, compared to 467,25 thousand tons in the same month of 2020, a strong increase of 20,47%. This context, in turn, ended up weakening wheat prices in Brazil.
