The members of the Rio Grande do Sul Wheat Sector Chamber met this Monday (07/12) via videoconference. The main agenda was the evaluation of the 2020 harvest. Even with the losses caused by frost and drought, the expectation is that the state of Rio Grande do Sul will still have a good quality harvest, between 2,3 and 2,5 million tons, to be confirmed in the coming days.

With the industries present, an analysis of the market scenario was also carried out, especially supply, demand and exports expected in the marketing of the current harvest.

For next year, the prospect is for an increase in area, which could once again be in the order of one million hectares, a volume that the State has not reached since 2014.

According to the coordinator of the Chamber, Tarcisio Minetto, from Fecoagro, there is concern about the availability of rural credit resources and to this end a request will be formalized by the Department of Agriculture and meetings will be held with the banks that operate wheat funding.
