RS 2025/26 Harvest: corn has expansion in cultivated area

The Brazilian Wheat Industry Association (Abitrigo) is hosting the 20nd International Wheat Industry Congress from October 22th to 32nd, one of the most important events on the Brazilian agribusiness calendar. The meeting, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, will bring together industry representatives, experts, producers, and authorities to discuss the sector's future, analyze 2025, and outline strategies for 2026.
The program kicks off on the evening of October 20th with the inaugural lecture "Economy and Geopolitics in Brazil and the World," given by political scientist and journalist Gustavo Segré and economist and partner at Gibraltar Consulting, Zeina Latif. The panel will be moderated by Abitrigo CEO Rubens Barbosa, who emphasizes the event's importance for the industry. "The Congress is essential for the different links in the wheat chain to discuss in-depth market opportunities and challenges, contributing to strategic decisions and strengthening the sector in Brazil."
On the morning of the second day, the official opening of the event will take place, led by Daniel Kümmel, president of Abitrigo's Deliberative Council, and attended by authorities and guests. Following the Congress, Luiz Renato Hauly, economic director of Destrava Brasil, will deliver a lecture on the impacts of Tax Reform.
Following the program, participants will be able to attend the panel "The Competitiveness of the Wheat Business," which will bring together experts to discuss the economic performance of the milling sector, management challenges, and management practices. Moderated by Abitrigo advisor Marcelo Vosnika, the panel will feature André Paranhos, vice president of Falconi Consultores, who will discuss management practices, and Glauco Ferreira, director of Kellanova, who will discuss the Circular Economy in Industry.
Next, the panel "From data to value: AI and automation innovating the Wheat Industry" will be held, featuring the participation of the Sales Manager at Haver & Boecker Latinoamericana, Edson Palorca; Product and Strategy Advisor at Inovação Ninja, Érica Briones; and moderation by the CEO of Rock Encantech, Fernando Gibotti.
The third and final day of the conference will begin with the theme "Wheat Flour in the New Consumer Market." The meeting will feature Didier Rosada, VP of Operations at Uptown Bakeries/Red Brick Consulting – USA, who will discuss the future of the bakery market, and Pery Carvalho, founder of Bioalimentos, who will speak about the frozen bakery products market. The moderator will be Rogério Tondo, a board member at Abitrigo.
Finally, the audience will enjoy the panel "The Wheat Market," featuring Elcio Bento, a wheat specialist from Safras & Mercado; Pablo Maluenda, a private consultant at Mercado de Trigo; and Jorge Lemainski, head of Embrapa Trigo. They will discuss the national and international markets, as well as the outlook for wheat production in Brazil. The moderator will be Junior Justino, vice president of Bunge.
The program also includes workshops promoted by Pensalab, Envirologix, Premiertech and Stern.
