Embrapa opens selection for commercialization of new corn hybrid
The process involves selecting up to five producers who will receive seeds from the new hybrid to validate its agronomic performance
"Citriculture on the Coastal Tablelands of Bahia and Sergipe: new rootstocks" is the theme of the webinar that the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation – Embrapa, linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, is holding this Wednesday, August 25 , at 14pm.
The states of Bahia and Sergipe are the largest citrus producers in the Northeast and are located in the Tabuleiros Costeiros region, which comprises the coastal strip that runs from Rio de Janeiro to Amapá and has soils of the Yellow Oxisol type, with cohesive subsurface layers. , which make it difficult for roots, water and air to penetrate.
Organized by Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura (Cruz das Almas, BA), the event will have two lectures. Embrapa's new rootstock varieties will be presented by researcher Walter Soares (Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura), leader of Embrapa's Genetic Improvement Program, while citrus rootstock varieties suitable for the Bahia-Sergipe citrus hub will be presented by researcher Hélio Wilson (Embrapa Tabuleiros Costeiros). Rootstock is the plant whose lower part, which has more vigor and is less susceptible to diseases, is used in grafting, the main propagation method used in the production of citrus seedlings.
Moderated by analyst Augusto Moura, the event will be broadcast simultaneously on Embrapa's YouTube channel and Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura's Facebook page.
