Raven holds its first Application Technology Conference in Brazil
Partners, customers and producers participated in the event, where they discussed new technologies for agriculture
Between August 27th and 29th, the 12th edition of the Brazilian Cotton Congress will take place in Goiânia, which will feature a vast program of plenary sessions, short courses, workshops and round tables, addressing issues based on technology, innovations and sustainable initiatives in the sector.
As part of the schedule for Tuesday (27), the CBA promotes, from 16:30 pm to 18 pm, the sustainability-themed panel with the presence of Marcel Imaizumi, director of Operations, Supply Chain and New Business at Vicunha Têxtil. Marcel will comment on the "Need to Value Water in the Production Process", through the company's innovative practices, such as the pioneering Pegada Hídrica Vicunha project, which, in an unprecedented way in Brazil, mapped water consumption in the life cycle of a pair of jeans. – from cotton planting to the final consumer – where consumption was 5.196 liters/pan.
In addition to Imaizumi, the room will be moderated by Marcio Portocarrero, executive director of ABRAPA, based on the topic of responsible cotton production in Brazil and ABR and BCI certifications; and will also have the participation of Chiara Gadaleta, founder of the Ecoera Movement, which will introduce the platform to "A Moda Pela Água" - an offshoot of Pegada Hídrica Vicunha - which aims to be a space where the main players in the sector, such as Vicunha, can come together and enhance their actions in favor of reducing environmental impact and water waste.
About the "Vicunha Water Footprint" project
In addition to its products and internal practices, Vicunha Têxtil invested in the "Pegada Hídrica Vicunha" project, which measured water consumption in the life cycle of a pair of jeans - from cotton planting to the final consumer, based on the methodology " Water Footprint Network.” In partnership with the ECOERA Movement, the work aimed to measure the environmental impact of the fashion chain and promote transparency in the sector, uniting the main players in favor of creating Brazilian indicators in sustainable water management, based on such an iconic piece and democratic like jeans.
In May 2019, the result was shared with the entire industry, which now has real data on the Brazilian jeans production chain, making it possible for each link to reflect and create goals for reducing and compensating water resources.
