The Value of Agricultural Production (VBP) for 2020 is estimated at R$683,2 billion, an amount 8,2% above that recorded in 2019, based on February projections.

For crops, the estimated value is R$448,4 billion and, for livestock, R$234,8 billion. Compared to last year, the growth is 8,9% and 8,2% respectively.

“Most of the crops analyzed show growth in production value. Among these, the ones with the greatest growth are peanuts (11,8%), cocoa (6,6%), coffee (25,9%), oranges (9,7%), cassava (7,8% ), corn (15,2%) and soybeans (15,5%). The results for corn and soybeans are due to higher prices this year, and also to higher harvests. Coffee had a strong recovery - the arabica harvest is 22,3% bigger, and prices are 10,4% higher than last year”, says the note from the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply ( Map).

The products expected to reduce VBP are: bananas, potatoes, wheat, beans, tomatoes and grapes.

In livestock, meat (beef, pork and chicken) is projected to produce good results this year. Egg revenue is expected to increase by 4,7% compared to 2019. A decline is expected in the milk sector: 2,5%.

By regions, the Central-West leads with a projection of 31,8% of the total VBP. Next comes the South (26,8%), Southeast (25,2%), Northeast (9,6%) and North (6,6%).
