VBP Agropecuário de Goiás should reach R$ 95,03 billion in 2021, points out Mapa

With an estimated expansion of 11,4% compared to 2020, the State remains sixth in the ranking of Gross Production Value among the States and the Federal District

The estimate for the Gross Value of Agricultural Production (VBP) in Goiás in 2021 is R$95,03 billion. Based on information from October, data released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), last Tuesday (16/11), shows that agriculture should account for R$ 63,08 billion (66,4% ) of the State's total, an increase of 10,4% compared to 2020. Livestock farming should account for R$ 31,95 billion (33,6%), an increase of 13,3% compared to last year.

The result places Goiás in the sixth position for the highest VBP among the States and the Federal District, with a share of 8,5% in the country's total Agricultural VBP. According to Mapa, the 10 products with the highest share in the Gross Value of Agricultural Production in the State in 2021 they are: soy (36,9%), beef (16,8%), corn (12,3%), sugarcane (10,4%), chicken (8,4%), milk (6,0% ), tomatoes (3,1%), beans (1,5%), pork (1,3%) and eggs (1,1%).

“The outlook for the Goiás Agricultural VBP in 2021 is very positive because it represents a growth of 11,4% compared to 2020, higher than the country's average”, states the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), Tiago Mendonça. “Agribusiness did not stop during the pandemic and has now stepped on the accelerator. If it weren’t for the climate problems, we could have had an even better result”, he adds.

Also according to the Map, Brazil's Agricultural VBP should reach R$1,12 trillion in 2021. Among the national agricultural highlights are cotton, coffee, corn, soybeans and wheat, which have the highest Gross Production Value in 32 years. In livestock, beef and chicken showed the greatest growth in the year, still driven by exports. For 2022, the Ministry's general prognosis is for normal production, with favorable weather and attractive prices. The estimate is for an expansion of 4,4% in the country's Agricultural VBP, reaching almost R$1,17 trillion.
