Estimates of the Gross Value of Agricultural Production (VBP), obtained based on information from September, resulted in R$1,150 trillion for this year. The value is 2,7% higher compared to that obtained in 2022, which was R$1,120 trillion. In values, an increase of 30 billion.

Crops, with growth of 4,8%, had revenues of R$812 billion. This year's record grain harvest is the main factor responsible for these results.

Several products performed favorably this year. Among these products are peanuts, with a real increase of 13,5% in VBP, rice 14,4%, banana 17,5%, cocoa 17,3%, sugar cane 16,5%, beans 4,9 .16,8%, orange 39,7%, cassava 3,1%, soybeans 2,3%, corn 25,5%, tomatoes 13,7% and grapes XNUMX%.

According to the general coordinator of Plans and Scenarios at the Agricultural Policy Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa), José Gasques, this result is due, especially, to prices and the volume produced.

Some products such as cotton, potatoes, coffee and wheat have made a negative contribution, showing a decline in VBP. For this entire group, lower prices in 2023 are the main cause of their performance.

Five products, which account for 82,0% of the VBP of crops, perform best, they are soybeans, corn, sugar cane, coffee and cotton, these products represent R$ 665,2 billion in the Value of Agricultural Production.

Finally, the regional results show the leadership of Mato Grosso, followed by Paraná, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. These generate revenue of R$592,6 billion, which corresponds to 51,5% of the country's VBP.
