The Gross Value of Agricultural Production (VBP) for 2022, obtained based on information from August, is estimated at R$1.207,41 trillion, with a slight downward trend (-0,3%) compared to last year. In relation to 2021, the VBP of crops showed an increase of 1,7% in real, while livestock had a drop of 4,4%.
The reduction in prices for beef, pork and chicken caused the value of this year's production to fall. In livestock, milk and eggs were the exception in this group, which increased by 2,7% and 3,9%, respectively.
Another product that contributed to the fall in VBP was soybeans, whose main factor associated with the reduction in revenue was the decrease in production, as average prices for the year show no signs of reduction.
For the soybean complex, made up of grains, bran and oil, exports from January to July this year generated revenue of US$43,78 billion, and meat, US$14,6 billion.
Most of the products analyzed showed a positive contribution to the formation of VBP. Cotton registered an increase of 27,7% in real revenue, banana 13,6%, potatoes 13,8%, coffee 35,9%, sugar cane 10,2% cassava 9,2%, corn 13,9% , tomato 23,8% and wheat 40,4%. Others with less prominence are peanuts, beans, castor beans and cassava. The products of this relationship represent 52,5% of the total VBP.
This year, cotton, coffee, corn and wheat presented record values in a series of 33 years, starting in 1989. Especially corn and wheat presented exceptional production volumes: corn 110,0 million tons and wheat 9,7 million .
For products that stood out for their positive contribution, prices were a decisive variable in the results. Some products such as cotton, coffee, tomatoes, wheat, potatoes, bananas and tomatoes show strong price increases compared to 2021.
The regional results show the leadership of Mato Grosso, Paraná, São Paulo and Minas Gerais in generating value in agriculture. In absolute values, the amount is R$642,9 billion, which corresponds to 53,2% of the total VBP.
