The Gross Value of Agricultural Production (VBP) reached R$1,188 trillion this year, slightly below that obtained in 2021, which was R$1,196 trillion. Crops, with real growth of 0,9%, represent R$821,2 billion, and livestock farming R$367,6 billion, with a decrease of -3,8%. For both activities, this year's result was below that observed in 2021.
The result was determined by climate problems in the South, which affected the production of soybeans and other crops, in addition to the drop in the VBP of livestock, mainly in beef, pork and chicken. The drop in prices for the main livestock items was the main factor that affected this sector. As an exception, milk has reached an average price not achieved in the last 17 years.
Among a relevant group of products with good performance this year, cotton stands out, with an increase of 26,2% in VBP, coffee, with 31,3%, beans, with 7,8%, corn, with 12,9 .37,8%, and wheat, with 1989%. These products this year have the highest sales value in a series since XNUMX.
Agribusiness exports, especially cotton, coffee and meat, have generated higher values compared to 2021, mainly in meat and coffee exports. The value of meat exports, between 2021 and 2022 (between January and August) increased by 30,4% in dollars, and in coffee, the increase was 54,3%.
The ranking of products in the VBP shows the first positions for soybeans, corn, sugar cane, coffee and cotton. These are responsible this year for 83,7% of the crops' VBP.
Among the regions, the highlight is the Central-West and South, and the states are Mato Grosso, Paraná and São Paulo.
