Sustainable food production and the future of the planet are two of UPL's main concerns. This premise leads the company to support the "Zero Summit", the first Latin American conference focused exclusively on technologies and ideas to mitigate carbon emissions into the atmosphere. The event will take place between the 8th and 9th of December, in the city of São Paulo.

"UPL is committed to supporting projects that contribute to the environment and the future of the planet. And we were the first agricultural pesticide company to commit to zero net carbon emissions by 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement. Including , in the last 5 years, UPL reduced its carbon emissions by 26% and set the goal of reducing a further 25% by 2025", says the CEO of UPL Brasil, Rogério Castro.

Castro will be one of the panelists on Agribusiness, on December 8, at 15:15 pm. In addition to him, the following will be in the debate: Jai Shroff, global CEO of UPL; Celso Moretti, president of Embrapa; Rodrigo Junqueira, director of AGCO; Evandro Gussi, CEO of Unica; Marcos Jank, professor and researcher at Insper; and Guilherme Nastari, director of Datagro. The mediation will be carried out by Carlos Pellicer, co-founder of Zero Summit and global COO of UPL.

"The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions is present in all UPL actions. In October, for example, we launched the 'Gigaton Challenge', a global project that aims to reduce the emission of 1 gigaton of CO2 by 2040. In this project, we will encourage and support farmers in adopting sustainable and regenerative practices", comments Rogério Castro. "The initiative has the support of the FIFA Foundation."

The Zero Summit conference will be broadcast live from Casa Fares in São Paulo.
