UPL announces Rogério Castro as new CEO in Brazil

As the company's main representative in the country, Rogério Castro will lead UPL's partnerships in Brazil and will be a member of the board of Grupo Sinagro and Serra Bonita Sementes

UPL announces the appointment of Rogério Castro as CEO (Chief Executive Officer) in Brazil. The change in command is part of the company's global transformation process, focusing on the OpenAg concept, open innovation, and the constant development of solutions for sustainable agriculture, a segment that has shown rapid growth in the world.

"We are pleased to welcome back Rogério Castro as CEO Brazil, responsible for all UPL businesses in the country, including alliances and joint ventures. Brazil is an agricultural powerhouse and this move will help us further strengthen our presence in the market", declares the company's Global CEO, Jai Shroff.

With more than 30 years of experience in the agribusiness sector, Rogério Castro has a degree in agronomy from the Federal University of Lavras, a certification in financial accounting from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Between 2011 and 2019, he was head of business at UPL in Brazil, having driven strong growth for the company, with a long-term strategic mindset.

"UPL is one of the largest agricultural solutions companies in Brazil, a country that also represents the company's largest market in the world. Our challenge is to enhance this growth, with a broad and effective product line and the offer of complete solutions for the field , benefiting maximum crop productivity and meeting the growing demand for safe and quality food", says the new CEO of UPL Brasil.

As the company's main representative in the country, Rogério Castro will lead UPL's partnerships in Brazil and will be a member of the board of Grupo Sinagro and Serra Bonita Sementes. Indirectly, the current heads of Decco and Advanta in Brazil will report to him. The companies make up the UPL Group. Internally, Castro will be supported by Cristiano Figueiredo, appointed to the new role of CCO (Chief Commercial Officer) at UPL in Brazil.

Fabio Torretta will lead the Sustainable Solutions area

Fabio Torretta, who led UPL and Arysta LifeScience – incorporated in 2019 – for 6 years, now assumes the role of global head of sustainable solutions at UPL. With more than three decades of experience in agribusiness, Torretta focuses his work on developing strategies to strengthen innovations of natural origin for crop protection, in addition to improving plant resilience and increasing crop yields, impacting plant health and sustainability of food production systems at a macro level.
