UPL, one of the four largest agricultural solutions companies in Brazil, announces the promotion of Liria Hosoe to the position of director of regulatory affairs. With a degree in chemistry from Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) and until then manager of the area, Liria is now responsible for all topics related to product registration, stewardship, public relations and government relations for the company in the country.
Two years after graduating, in 1996, she began her career as a laboratory assistant at the Hokko manufacturing plant, a company that in 2005 changed its name to Arysta LifeScience. During her career at the company, she was also responsible for the ISO 14001 Certification of the Salto de Pirapora plant and also for the implementation of the Stewarship Program. In 2019, the company was acquired by UPL, where it continued to operate. In total, Liria – who also has a specialization in polymeric membranes from the University of Kyushu, in Japan – has 26 years of experience in the agricultural sector and regulatory area.
"Taking on this new role is a professional and personal satisfaction. But the challenges and responsibilities are great. After all, regulation involves very important pillars, such as the process of registering strategic products for the company's sustainable growth in a highly regulated sector and actions to ensure that our solutions are used correctly and safely, guaranteeing the success of agricultural production and environmental protection", says the director.
A good example of action for the correct and safe use of inputs is the Aplique Bem program, created 15 years ago by the Agronomic Institute (IAC) in partnership with UPL. "It will be a pleasure to continue leading this fantastic initiative, which has already carried out more than 4 thousand training sessions for more than 76 thousand people. I have a special affection for the program, as I participated in its creation and over the years we have proven its unique efficiency in the field" , comments.
For the CEO of UPL Brasil, Rogério Castro, Liria Hosoe's work will contribute to accelerating the already constant growth of the company in the country. "Liria actively participated in an important part of the development of the company we know today. Faced with this new challenge, we are sure that her expertise, with the support of an incredible team, will continue to support us in our goal of reimagining sustainability and offering solutions that are increasingly better for the farmer."
