Climate in Argentina worries Brazilian wheat farmer
The possible lower productivity in Argentina, due to the climate, has worried Brazilian agents, according to information from Cepea
Trimble announces the next generation of its selective spray system, the WeedSeeker 2. Developed based on over 25 years of experience in agriculture, Trimble's new solution and sensor system offers growers up to 90% savings on crop costs. inputs, as it applies agricultural pesticides only to invasive plants, identified through sensors.
Selective spraying systems bring a variety of improvements over traditional agricultural spraying. By detecting individual weeds in the field and directly applying the pesticide, farmers can considerably reduce the use of the input. Local spraying is efficient in combating herbicide-resistant weeds and reducing costs, as chemical products that still have an effect on invasive plants are increasingly expensive. Furthermore, with the reduction of herbicides applied, there is also a great benefit for the environment, further promoting sustainability and better management of the property.
The WeedSeeker 2 brings improvements to the Brazilian spraying market. New smart sensors save time in the field by eliminating the need for system resets. After a quick calibration at power-up, the WeedSeeker 2 automatically adjusts to changes in temperature, ambient light and changing background such as soil or straw, ensuring system accuracy in all conditions. These smart sensors also know the speed and your position on the sprayer booms. This means they don't spray sections of the field that have already been covered and automatically adjust spray time when making a turn to ensure a weed is sprayed.
Knowing the exact location of invasive plants allows farmers to combat the problem in an increasingly effective way. WeedSeeker 2 now records where weeds are sprayed, so users can see in real time where there are problem areas and review detailed log maps before the next spray. The new system is also lighter and more agile on longer booms, and the sensors now provide expanded coverage areas. WeedSeeker 2's new sensors improve and eliminate the need for nozzle reconfigurations while simultaneously reducing the number of sensors needed.
“Selective spraying is a great tool for controlling weeds, especially against those that show tolerance or resistance to most common herbicides,” said Daniel Rodriguez, Trimble Agriculture product manager for WeedSeeker. “By applying herbicide only to specific weeds, you can save up to 90% on chemical costs. This makes it possible to use products with different attack modes that would otherwise have unfeasible costs. The WeedSeeker 2 detection system allows you to use it not only in fallow fields, but also after planting, which extends the usability of the equipment and improves field recovery. ”
As a Trimble solution, the new system is fully compatible with all Trimble brand displays and Autopilot vehicle positioning and guidance systems. The GFX-750 monitor can quickly transition between operating screens for on-site guidance and spraying, while simultaneously controlling both, allowing for a cleaner tractor cab and eliminating the need for multiple monitors for sprayer guidance and control.
WeedSeeker 2 is able to communicate with different brands. Any monitor compatible with the ISOBUS protocol can be used to monitor and control the new selective spray system. With an intuitive interface, the technology is simple and easy to use, offering producers optimal flexibility in their agricultural operations.
The new universal mount allows installation on more types of spray booms, eliminating the need for custom brackets. With the ease of installation, producers can return to the field sooner.
The WeedSeeker 2 features a redesigned compartment that is easier to clean and maintain. Channels built into the sensor compartment allow liquid to drain regardless of the position of the bar. This considerably reduces the need to clean equipment due to unexpected rain or other environmental impacts.
Additionally, the WeedSeeker 2's upgraded processing power allows for sprayer operating speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. Faster operating speeds allow farmers to cover more hectares in a day while achieving optimal accuracy, making this system more cost-effective.
“The new WeedSeeker 2 spot spray system marks an important enhancement to our robust precision agriculture portfolio,” said Abe Hughes, general manager, Trimble Agriculture. “It is a vital piece in our suite of Trimble Connected Farm precision solutions. By reducing input costs, herbicide use, lead time and maintenance requirements, this system also allows growers and farmers to operate more sustainably with fewer inputs applied to the field, enabling significant savings in chemical resistant applications. weeds. Our new technology is a winning solution for farmers. ”
WeedSeeker 2 is now available throughout the country, through Trimble distribution networks.
