Yellow Jacket seed treatment technology, exclusive to Barenbrug, gains more efficiency with a new feature developed by the company in Brazil: the implementation of Microbiological Nematocide in order to control the multiplication of nematodes that cause damage to agricultural crops. The new solution available to producers aims to increase soil fertility without nematodes taking advantage of this and hindering productivity.
A Yellow Jacket technology - using fungicide, insecticide, biostimulants and micronutrients - was developed to promote rapid and safe establishment of forage in the field, as it protects seedlings during initial development, making it possible to anticipate the first grazing and consequently increase productivity in the area of pasture.
The inclusion of Microbiological Nematicide in Yellow Jacket technology brings more benefits to producers. The Barenbrug do Brasil Technological Development team dedicated itself intensively to scientific studies and analyzes to prove an efficient treatment solution to combat nematodes. “The use of microbiological nematicide in the treatment of cover crop seeds is an additional tool for the producer, during the period between harvests, to increase the natural productive capacity of the soil”, explains the Agronomic Engineer and Technological Development Coordinator at Barenbrug, Paulo Ramalho.
Plants from seeds treated with Nematicide have less nematode infection. When using seeds treated with Microbiological Nematicide during cover crops, an increase in the population of these microorganisms in the rhizosphere, the region of the roots of forage plants, is expected.
The use of Nematode, consequently, will cause an increase in microbiological activity in the region and, as a result, there will be competition for space, egg predation, and a reduction in the multiplication capacity of the nematode species. Pratylenchus brachyurus.
This, for subsequent crops, not only favors the nematode population but will also help the physical structure of the soil, through a greater volume of roots produced within the soil profile, which after drying out the forage will remain in place and will be subjected to the decomposition process. This, in turn, favors soil fertility, contributing to the cycling of important nutrients for crop production.
