Cinnamaldehyde enters the FRAC poster; UPL has patents for use
Cinnamaldehyde is a substance derived from "Cinnamomum" sp., which can be used as a fungicide, bactericide, insecticide and nematicide
Ferret and fruit fly attacks were the main causes of fruit drop in the 22/23 orange harvest, ahead of greening, leprosis, early blight and citrus canker. Together, ferrets and fruit flies were responsible for 6,27% of the fruit drop, an increase of 11,5% compared to the 21/22 harvest, according to data from the Harvest Estimation Survey (PES) report. from Fundecitrus (Citriculture Defense Fund).
To reduce losses, monitoring pests with traps is an important ally for citrus growers. The Ferocitrus Furão technology, which allows the presence of the insect to be monitored in the orchard before it causes damage, is one of Coopercitrus - Rural Producers' Cooperative's efforts to control the ferret.
The Ferocitrus Ferão consists of a kit with a delta trap and a tablet with an attractive ferret pheromone. Installed in citrus orchards, the tablet continuously releases a chemical substance similar to that produced by female ferrets, which attracts males for mating. Upon contact with the glue-coated walls of the delta trap, the moths become trapped, allowing the number of insects found to be counted.
Depending on the number of moths captured weekly, chemical/biological control should or should not be introduced in the area to control the pest. In this way, with the trap, unnecessary applications are avoided and control begins at the appropriate time, preventing them from reaching the level of economic damage. Each trap lasts 30 days.
Citrus growers interested in more information about Ferocitrus Furão technology should contact the nearest Coopercitrus unit.
