Transforming a sprayer into a fertilizer distributor is sustainable for the sector

Change promoted by MP Agro generates savings of up to 80% of the value compared to a new self-propelled vehicle

For a farm to be productive, it inevitably needs to be profitable, efficient and sustainable in all aspects and processes. When it comes time to replace an old sprayer, for example, it's no different. Firstly, the market is not willing to pay what it is really worth, devaluing it by up to 20% of its value and the farmer is left with the dilemma of what to do with this equipment? Concern about sustainability and spending on the activity also guides this doubt.

When doing the math, the solution found by experienced producer Marcio Leandro Basso was to transform his old sprayer into a new fertilizer distributor. According to him, who grows soybeans and corn, the choice to transform his self-propelled vehicle was initially a financial one. “We needed to change equipment, but at that time we were not in a position to buy a factory-ready product. That was when we researched and found out about MP Agro's Z line, the great solution for our business”, highlights Basso.

MP Agro's Z line is the only one on the market with solutions developed for each self-propelled model. Among its differences is the use of the automotive resource already invested, reduced crushing of crops using the same sprayer trail and split nitrogen fertilization in more advanced stages of corn, a practice highly recommended for the crop that guarantees better yield and high productivity.

This is because the amount of nitrogen present in the soil does not generally meet the crop's demand. Therefore, splitting nitrogen fertilization is a fundamental technique, but it is important to take into account several factors such as soil type, sowing time, crop rotation, operability so that it can assertively reach the desired production level.

With the equipment, the Irmãos Basso farm, located in Lucas do Rio Verde–MT, also increased its productivity. According to Basso, today using the machine transformed by MP Agro, he harvested 64 bags of soybeans per hectare and 145 bags of corn sc/ha in the last harvest. “The cost-benefit was very good, in addition to increasing our general average productivity, we can make applications mainly in corn crops without limitations”, adds the producer.

Sustainability and durability

As already highlighted, the transformation of self-propelled on the farm generates great savings, however, added to this there are also gains in sustainability, after all the producer is reusing equipment, even with its automotive resource in good condition, which is most often discarded and continues to pollute the environment. Precisely with this concern and focus on greater durability in the use of equipment in the field, MP Agro's Z line is produced in stainless steel, ideal for combating the effects of abrasion and corrosion, being easy to clean due to its low roughness and asepsis.

Thus, it generates an increase in the useful life of at least three times greater in equipment subject to wear, such as fertilizer and corrective distributors that suffer aggression from time combined with the chemical effects of the products. “The stainless steel distributor is a good option, as it does not result in rust on the implement, which is a great benefit for us on a daily basis”, concludes the producer.
