BASF brings robust portfolio to the Rural Show
Company presented fungicides, highlighted seed treatment area, digital platform and Soytech and Credenz seeds
TMG - Tropical Melhoramento e Genética, a Brazilian company providing genetic solutions for cotton, soybeans and corn, focuses every day more on innovation and the objective of developing genetic solutions and cultivars that deliver productivity and profitability. And, in this context, ISO17025 certification plays a fundamental role in guaranteeing the best laboratory practices that will contribute to the seed technologies obtained through the genetic improvement program reaching producers with rigorous quality standards. Conquered in 2016, and with biannual audits, TMG is one of the few Brazilian companies accredited in ISO17025, with the scope of molecular analyzes for transgenic events, complying with excellence with the standards required for the analysis laboratory.
“We guarantee the market the quality and traceability of the analysis of TMG seed technologies, contributing to the portfolio of soybean, cotton and corn cultivars”, points out the Supervisor in Genetics and Plant Analysis at TMG, Adriana Polizel.
Currently, the TMG laboratory covers 450 square meters and was designed to meet the flow of activities in a linear manner. Furthermore, the company has state-of-the-art robotic DNA extraction and manipulation platforms available for its analysis and has the most modern technology to support breeding programs with strategies for selecting the best plants per analysis. The space has already been built to meet the genotyping demand for the next 10 years and can expand capacity with new equipment already foreseen in the strategic planning. By 2031, TMG intends to invest R$1 billion in R&D.
“In 2021, the laboratory team worked to systematize quality management, based on regulations. It was a large initiative, in which the laboratory's entire quality management system was placed into software. Thus, it facilitated all traceability and integration of information, documentation management and data generation in a more intelligent and dynamic way”, concludes Adriana.
With an active focus on improving practices, TMG has just become a member of Excellence Through Stewardship (ETS), a global organization that promotes the adoption of responsible product management programs and quality systems for the full cycle of agricultural biotechnology products. “The first step was to be part of this very important organization. Few companies in the Brazilian market are members of the ETS and the search for this new certification will bring us a huge advance in the work format”, says Juliana Gonçalves, coordinator of the regulatory sector.
