TMG grows in the Brazilian cotton market

According to Spark research, the company's products reach more than 750 thousand hectares of cotton planted area

TMG -- Tropical Melhoramento & Genética grew in the cotton growing market, according to Spark's BIP Algodão survey, reaching more than 750 thousand hectares of cotton planted area -- out of a total of 1,6 million in the country.

On average, according to the survey, the producer who plants TMG cotton occupies 54% of the area planted with the company's cultivars. The company also has the largest planted area in Mato Grosso and Bahia, states with the largest national cotton production. 

The company announced an investment of R$2 billion, with its own resources, over the next 10 years. The amount will be used mainly in the development of products for soy and cotton. And in experiments linked to the launch of corn cultivars. The contributions include investments in a biotechnology laboratory and company greenhouses.

In cotton, TMG has started a study of a genetically modified variety tolerant to the boll weevil. The variety is expected to reach the market within ten years. The revenue outlook for the same period is approximately R$5 billion.
