TMG biotechnology laboratory increases productivity with SoftExpert technology

The SoftExpert Suite solution helps maintain ISO/IEC 17025 certification - considered the main international quality seal for conducting tests in laboratories

Tropical Melhoramento e Genética – TMG, a Brazilian company providing genetic solutions for cotton, soybeans and corn – automated its Quality Management system with SoftExpert Suite technology. Among the results achieved, the company highlights the agility in executing activities, the centralization of information and the guarantee of traceability and data integrity, fundamental for maintaining the international ISO/IEC 17025 certification.

Located in Cambé, Paraná, and with branches in the states of Mato Grosso, Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul - the main Brazilian producing regions, TMG develops genetic solutions and cultivars, contributing to meeting the global demand for grains and fibers in a sustainable way. In the 2020/21 harvest, the company took the lead in the cotton market, according to Spark's BIP®️ Cotton survey, with around 44% of the market share.

With more than 70 Research and Development projects underway and with the expectation of investing R$1 billion in R&D by 2031, the Biotechnology Laboratory needed a solution that could bring together in a single location the information generated at different moments in its activities. processes and, when necessary, replicate this information in an automatic and traceable way.

According to TMG's Research Project Leader, Fernanda Sarri Augusto, the department ended up controlling all information related to equipment, analyzes and operational procedures through spreadsheets, often requiring the same data to be replicated in different files. “These actions, in addition to being laborious, were very vulnerable and susceptible to failure”, she points out.

To solve this challenge, TMG adopted the SoftExpert Suite solution and highlights as its main gain the traceability of all resources used in 100% of the analyzes carried out by the Laboratory. The integration between the components and the possibility of parameterization according to the company's processes are some of the differences highlighted by the organization.

Fernanda explains that the implementation project, developed by J2a Consultoria - a partner company of SoftExpert, was divided into several stages and as the parameterizations of each component were finalized and validated, users were trained and already had permission to use the tool on a daily basis. day.

“We had very positive feedback from employees, which was notable for its ease of use and agility in carrying out activities. The leadership reported the simplicity of monitoring the execution of each team member's tasks, as well as managing the indicators captured in real time”, he highlights.

Furthermore, another fundamental point for the success of the project, highlighted by the TMG leader, is the ease of making changes to forms and processes, thus allowing the practice of continuous improvement. “As responsible for this implementation, I am proud of the results we obtained, the adherence of users and the level of maturity we reached in our processes”, says Fernanda. 

Now, the company aims to expand the use of the solution in other areas so that good management practices are disseminated, increasing management efficiency throughout the company.
