For Federarroz, what has already been harvested is fully capable of supplying the domestic market and there is no need for imports.
In an action handed down last Saturday (06/05), the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Mato Grosso (Famato) had its request granted by the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso (TJMT) regarding the removal from the agenda of the judgment of the Action Directive of Unconstitutionality that provides for State Law No. 11861/2022, popularly known as the Pantanal Law.
The case, which would be judged by the TJMT this Thursday (09/05), had its course suspended by judge Clarice Claudino da Silva, who accepted Famato's claim. In her decision, the president of the Court of Justice determined not only the withdrawal from the agenda, but also the suspension of the progress of the case, sending it to the Judicial Center for Conflict Resolution and Citizenship of the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso (Cejusc) , with the aim of seeking consensus between the parties involved.
"It argues that by issuing State Decree No. 774/2023, the State of Mato Grosso reinforced its commitment to preserving the environment, as it established standards and guidelines to guarantee the sustainability and environmental preservation of the region, with the active participation of several sectors of society.", stated in the decision.
This is not the first time that Famato has been actively involved in this process. In January of this year, both Famato and the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) were qualified as Amicus Curiae by the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso. This measure aims to provide the courts with a better understanding of the implications and changes proposed by the Pantanal Law.
Famato, as a representative of the interests of farmers and ranchers in the state, has sought to ensure that policies related to the use of land and natural resources in the Pantanal duly consider the interests and needs of the rural community, while at the same time ensuring the conservation of this important biome.
