Tiafenacil herbicide receives permission for trade in Brazil

The herbicide Tiafenacil was registered for use in Brazil last Friday (30/12/2022). This is a new molecule, developed to affect a broad spectrum of unwanted plants. It belongs to ISK (Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, Ltd.). It can be used on cotton, coffee, citrus, beans, corn and soybeans.

Its target is plants that have developed resistance to other products, such as Amaranthus palmeri, Chenopodium album L., Conyza canadensis, Eleusine indica L., Ipomoea hederacea, Ipomoea lacunosa, Ipomoea purpurea, Amaranthus tuberculatus e Ambrosia elatior.

According to research information, thiafenacil can be used in combination with other herbicides. It also performed well in tests mixing safeners, fungicides, plant hormones and insecticides.

Application can be carried out by different means, such as soil, foliar or water. But it is particularly suitable for foliar application. The moment of application can occur over a wide range of time; from post-harvest to pre-sowing.

The inventors of tiafenacil are Suganuma Takehito and Onishi Atsushi, both related to ISK.

The product must be sold in Brazil by Ouro Fino, which has been announcing it to the public for at least four months. The molecule will be sold under the commercial name Terrad'or, registered in Brazil by the company FarmHannong Co., Ltd., which manufactures the active ingredient in South Korea, and belongs to the LG Group.
