Recent changes in the world will force agricultural organizations, their managers and entrepreneurs, to become closer to their customers and develop the ability to solve problems that will arise with the multiplied speed of digitalization.

These changes will imply a new business culture, a new business vision and a new management timing for operations. This corporate change will be the theme of the 6th edition of the National Congress of Agribusiness Women - CNMA, which will debate how to be successful in the face of the challenges of new times, on the 25th, 26th and 27th of October, in a Digital Experience format, with the theme “Digital & Adding value. The new leadership in Agro”.

“Such profound changes, experienced in recent months, will imply a cultural change in companies, which will also require a radical educational attitude from the leader, who will have the responsibility of adapting and honing their human resources. This is the focus of discussion for the CNMA, when we will debate the role of leadership in this new moment in the sector”, highlights the event's Show Manager, Carolina Gama.

Reinvention of agriculture

At the head of one of the oldest entities in national agribusiness, the president of the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB), Teka Vendramini, believes that the changes experienced due to the pandemic offer new challenges to leaders, especially in the sector, with an important strategic role from rural production to global food.

“I really like to put this on the agenda, especially at this moment we are going through, with the pandemic, in which Brazil has record harvests and productions, placing us in the role of the largest food factory in the world. We are still living in the imponderables of life and this fragility is a transformative crisis”, she says.

For Teka, the pandemic made everyone very aware of the importance of human and animal health, food safety and the importance of the consistency of the health control system. “I think we started to surround ourselves and notice, more and more, points that were not so relevant in the trials, that we were not so concerned about. That is why it is important to bring to the debate the role of leaders in understanding this context, understanding how agribusiness is reinventing itself”, she points out.

Leadership ahead of its time

The president of SRB highlights mental flexibility as one of the key points that must be developed by leaders. “We are rethinking our business, how to manage companies. I am very concerned about management, as we have to listen to our teams and surround ourselves with qualified and intelligent professionals. Furthermore, the leader needs to convey security and, in some way, raise the spirit of the people who work around us. In my opinion, the leadership has to carry out this integration, it has to take and raise the spirit of these people and show that we will continue moving forward”, she reinforces.

With this in mind, Teka understands that the digital world directly impacted leaders, who needed to quickly adapt to the virtual world, training the team to live this new moment. “We live in a very digital period, in which relationships have developed through technology. Several companies have experienced difficulties in terms of their ability to adapt to the use of online tools. It was an intense moment of knowledge transfer between people. Without a doubt, this was a leadership challenge,” she says.
