The Maranhão Grain Terminal (Tegram), located in the Port of Itaqui, in São Luís (MA), celebrated its 10th anniversary in March, consolidating its position as one of the main logistics hubs in the Brazilian Northern Arc. In the month, the terminal handled 1,3 million tons of soybeans, a volume that contributed to the 3,3 million tons registered by the port in the period.
Since its inauguration in 2015, Tegram has exported 83,4 million tons of grains, including soybeans, corn and soybean meal. The terminal reached its record in 2023, with 15,6 million tons handled, a mark it intends to repeat in 2025.
Strategic for the flow of agricultural production from the regions of Maranhão, Piauí, Tocantins and Northeast Mato Grosso, Tegram has modern infrastructure, with a static capacity of 500 thousand tons of grain, hoppers for more than 900 trucks per day and railway integration.
The terminal has undergone two expansions since its inauguration, and is now preparing for the third phase, with a planned investment of R$1,634 billion for the construction of a third berth. The new structure is expected to add 8,5 million tons to the annual capacity, reinforcing the position of the Port of Itaqui as one of the main grain exporting complexes in the Northern Arc.
