Technology for sugarcane borer control is highlighted by Sipcam Nichino at CanaTech On Farm 2021

Recognized as one of the main technical events in the sugar-energy sector, CanaTech On Farm 2021 will take place on the 27th, in person, at the experimental farm run by consultancy firm MS Fernandes, in the city of Frutal (MG). The Italian-Japanese company Sipcam Nichino is a sponsor of the meeting and is bringing its portfolio of solutions for sugar cane to the venue.

According to Sipcam Nichino, the company has transferred consistent results to the sugar-energy sector, by delivering solutions such as the recently launched Takumi insecticide, the herbicides Ancosar, Kicker Leale, Metrimex 500 SC and Sirtaki Gold, in addition to the Sprint WG ripener and a line robust use of biostimulants.

The Takumi brand insecticide, according to the company, provides high performance in controlling the sugarcane borer (Diatraea saccharalis). According to Sergio Camargo, from Sipcam Nichino's market development area, the new product stands out due to its prolonged action and formulation, which according to the company was developed to explore the full potential of the active ingredient Flubendiamide 222, a discovery by the innovative Nihon Nohyaku (Nichino Japan).

“Immediately after application, Takumi stops feeding the caterpillars and they die. The insecticide acts by contact or ingestion and is selective to the borer’s natural enemies.” The product, Camargo highlights, favors the so-called integrated pest management (IPM), the agronomic strategy that combines chemical control and biological control.

Another attraction at the Sipcam Nichino stand at CanaTech On Farm will be the complete line of herbicides: Ancosar, Kicker Leale, Metrimex 500 SC and Sirtaki Gold, for managing weeds in sugarcane. The Sprint WG growth regulator, with a relevant effect on sugarcane maturation, and a robust portfolio of biostimulants, complement Sipcam Nichino's solutions for sugarcane fields.
