In the Abaeté-MG region, a technical cooperation project demonstrates how it is possible to produce, undertake and innovate sustainably on rural properties. The work is the result of a partnership between Embrapa Milho e Sorgo (Sete Lagoas-MG) and Sicoob Credinacional.

Sinval Lopes, agronomist at Embrapa, explains how the project prioritizes the use of technologies that include the most recent generation of work and agricultural production models. “For example, the lines of credit for sustainable production, made available by Sicoob Credinacional for the acquisition and use of drones for agricultural spraying, generate jobs in innovative areas. Inserting professionals in the so-called agro 5.0 contributes to reversing the rural exodus and to the sustainability of production”, he states.

The project also includes technology transfer activities that aim to improve land use efficiency; guarantee production and market supply; and increase the economic efficiency of the property.

According to the president of the Board of Directors of Sicoob Credinacional, Artur José de Andrade, the actions carried out jointly between the institutions are extremely advantageous for rural producers. “Research and the implementation of technologies, already tested and approved, generate greater development of agribusiness, reducing costs, increasing productivity and, consequently, maximizing results.”

To present the technologies implemented in the region that have improved the results of rural properties, a field day was held at Fazenda Gerais e Poções, in the municipality of Paineiras-MG.

The event had stations on pasture management, integrated systems, pest control, high-performance bioinsecticide to control Spodoptera frugiperda, demonstration of aerial application with a drone and credit lines for sustainable production.

For Giovani Chaves, agricultural extensionist at Emater-MG, the field day allowed participants to witness a successful case of integration between research, extension, credit institution and rural producer, through Embrapa, Emater-MG, Sicoob Credinacional and producer Dalva Maria de Lima. “At the event, which was attended by approximately 90 people, relevant topics focused on sustainable agriculture were discussed, such as pest control, integrated production systems, pasture management and rural credit, mainly credit lines aimed at agriculture. low carbon”, comments Giovani.

Fernanda Aparecida da Silva, manager of the Sicoob Credinacional Agency in Paineiras-MG, reports that the public's evaluation of the field day was very positive. “We received testimonials from producers that the event was very beneficial. The knowledge disseminated can add value to the producers’ activities”, she assesses.
