Another survey carried out by technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab) begins this Monday (24/04) to update the figures for the Brazilian grain harvest. The data will help compose the 8th Survey of the 2022/23 Grain Harvest, to be released by the state-owned company on May 11th.
The research work continues until April 29th and, on that occasion, technicians will visit crops in the states of Tocantins, Alagoas and Pernambuco to check in the field the prospects for production, area and productivity and the possible effects of climatic events on crops. . In other states, the same factors will be checked remotely, through telephone contacts and sending information online.
For the research work that begins this Monday, the highlights are monitoring the sowing of third-harvest crops and monitoring second-harvest crops.
Information from the 7th Survey, released by Conab on April 13, indicates that grain production in Brazil in the 2022/23 cycle was estimated at 312,5 million tons, which represents an increase of 40,1 million tons when compared to the 2021/22 season (up 15%). The good performance was explained not only by the increase in planted area (around 3,3%) but also by the improvement in the productivity of crops such as soybeans, corn, cotton, sunflower, castor beans and sorghum.
