Syngenta has just made available, in a totally innovative way in the agricultural segment, 60 video inserts on its portal, which explain in a didactic and objective way the correct way to manage and apply the main fungicide, herbicide and insecticide technologies that make up its portfolio. The materials highlight the methods of application of the products, in which crops they can be used, the care that the farmer must take when handling the technologies, the necessary PPE, safety intervals per crop, as well as various other information that will help him obtain the better use of pesticides, with safety for people, crops and the environment.

The materials are now available on Syngenta Portal, and can be accessed in addition to other content that also provides technical information, in different formats, to assist the producer. According to Guillermo Carvajal, Syngenta's Sustainability Leader for Brazil and Latin America, the videos provide educational information and easy-to-understand language, precisely to expand the reach of the information disseminated.

"One of the main commitments of our Sustainable Agriculture Plan, whose second phase was launched in June this year, is precisely to promote the health and safety of field workers. One of the fronts of this goal is to promote the safe use of our products, a premise on which we are working with great dedication, as exemplified by the video leaflet project", he highlights. The executive also remembers that, through the same Plan, Syngenta will invest US$ 2 billion in sustainable agriculture by 2025, in addition to launching two disruptive technologies each year to help producers face the challenges brought by climate change.

Technologies for minor crops

In parallel, and in conjunction with the launch of the video leaflets, Syngenta expanded its presence on the so-called minor crops, an important segment of Brazilian agriculture, which includes fruits, vegetables, legumes, among others. To date, three of the company's products have been approved by regulatory bodies: Bravonil 720, Karate Zeon and Polo 500SC.

The three registered technologies cover a wide range of crops, which now have the protection of agronomically sustainable agents, both for the environment and for planting productivity. Among them are sweet potatoes, yacon potatoes, beets, yams, ginger, yams, cassava, parsnips, turnips, radishes, peanuts, peas, beans, chickpeas and lentils.

"At minor crops They are of enormous importance for farmers, as many complement their businesses with the fruit and vegetable market. Furthermore, this front is primarily responsible for food supply, which makes it absolutely indispensable for society", highlights Juliano Assuiti, Director of Agricultural Pesticides Portfolio at Syngenta. "Our initiative brings many benefits to the producer, as Now it will be able to expand its options in pesticides, previously available only to other crops", he adds.

Syngenta has submitted several other products for registration for the segment, which are still undergoing approval by the Ministry of Agriculture. The perspective for 2021, according to Assuiti, is to extend even more technologies to minor crops. "Our objective is to bring our most modern and effective solutions to this front, including biological pesticides, as crops have space for this."
